The City of Joshua Early Warning System currently consists of seven (7) sirens placed strategically through out the city. They are activated simultaneously to provide a general alert for the entire city. The Early Warning System can be activated from the City of Joshua Emergency Operations Center or from the Joshua Fire Department.

The early warning siren alert system makes use of THREE different and unique tones.

TORNADO WARNING: The sirens will sound a WAILING tone ( a constant siren with a decreasing/increasing sound caused by siren rotation). The sirens will sound this tone for three (3) minutes. This is to notify the public of a serious WEATHER condition that requires them to take immediate action

ATTACK WARNING: The sirens will sound a WAVERING tone (similar to the siren sounds heard in old war movies). The sirens will sound this tone for three (3) minutes.

This would indicated that we are under ATTACK from a hostile nation. This is to notify the public of a serious attack situation that requires them to take immediate action.

ALERT OR ATTENTION WARNING: The sirens will sound a steady AIR HORN tone for three (3) minutes. This tone will be used to ALERT EMERGENCY PERSONNEL should there be a failure of radio/ telephone communications systems.
